Bertrand Sorel was born in Montreal, Canada. After graduating from McGill University with Great Distinction (Bachelor in Sciences, Biology, with major in Human Genetics), he went to the University of Montreal to get his dental degree (D.M.D.). He then spent four years practicing general dentistry,mostly in his own practice on the North Shore of Montreal. He then went to the University of Connecticut to pursue a specialty degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This demanding program integrated a medical degree, a year of general surgery and all the courses and hospital rotations associated with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty.
